J100-10 RISK AND RESILIENCE MANAGEMENT OF WATER AND WASTEWATER SYSTEMS

As critical national infrastructure, water and wastewater utilities must prepare for any event, no matter how unlikely, that may affect their ability to provide adequate amounts of safe drinking water under sufficient pressure at all times. These events include accidents, natural disasters, and terrorist attacks.

J100 describes a simple and easy-to-impelment process for identifying, analyzing, and managing risks associated with malevolent attacks and naturally occurring hazards against water and wastewatr systems. J100 will help utilities identify vulnerabilities in their infrastructure, harden security, improve redundant systems, mitigate property damage and injuries from an event, and return service to normal as quickly as possible.

The standard falls under the joint jurisdiction of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and ASME Innovative Technologies Institute, LLC (ASME–ITI). This jurisdiction is exercised by the Joint ASME–ITI/AWWA RAMCAP Standards Committee for Risk and Resilience Management of Water and Wastewater Systems.
